Leslie Reid
Leslie Reid began riding at the age of two on the family farm and was involved in the Pony Club while growing up, passing her “A” level in 1975. Before moving on to the discipline of Dressage, Leslie trained and showed hunters and jumpers as well as Appaloosas and Quarter Horses, competing in such events as Pleasure, Reining, and Reined Cowhorse, with results including AQHA Champions. She holds her Level III Dressage coaching certificate, her Cadora Silver Advanced Standard, and United States Gold Medal Rider Award. Reid has won over 40 Canadian Equestrian Federation Provincial Zone Awards and, having coached many national Young Rider champions, was named Canadian Equestrian Federation Coach of the Year by the Canadian Equestrian Federation in 1989. Her success as a coach continued when Jeremy Steinberg and his mount, Hawkesbury, won the individual gold medal at the 1996 North American Young Riders Championships. In 1999 her student Angela Martin won the Canadian National Finals for Young Riders.
Named to the gold medal winning Canadian Team in 1991 for the Pan American Games, Reid then trained in Germany for three years with Udo Lange and Christilot Boylen in the early 1990’s in order to maximize the development of her handsome and talented stallion, Seafox. In 1995, she and Seafox made their debut at the International Grand Prix level. Reid was the first Canadian rider to be named to the 1996 Olympic Dressage Team, qualifying after the first two Olympic Trials. In 1996, Reid captured the Volvo World Cup Dressage Canadian League Final.
