  Belinda Trussell

Born in Sydney, Australia, Belinda Trussell spent her childhood living in places as exotic as Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Atlanta, Georgia. In 1987 Belinda moved to Toronto, Canada, where, coached by Gary Vander Ploeg, she competed at the Young Riders level. In 1988 she won the Canadian National Dressage Championships and placed 9th individually at the North American Young Riders Championships. Belinda retained her Australian passport and represented that country in all Young Riders competitions until 1994 when she became a Canadian citizen.

The 2002 show season was very exciting for Belinda. Early in the year, she acquired the 12-year-old Oldenburg Grand Prix horse, Royan 11, and within six months won the Gold medal at Blainvilles’s Coupe Des Ameriques. From there, Belinda went on to represent Canada as the youngest member of the Canadian Dressage team at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain. With a season of stellar performances, Belinda is the leading rider going into the Swarovski Canadian League World Cup Finals, taking place at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, in November 7th and 8th of 2003. Belinda Currently owns and operates Oakcrest Farms, a distinguished Canadian Dressage facility, where she works with Olympians, Eva-Maria Pracht and Christilot Bylen. She coaches a diverse group of clientele, and has 19 horses in training. Belinda lives on the property with her husband Mark Trussell.
